Ali Forrest Confronts AI-Era Anxiety on New Single “2035,” Out February 26
A cautionary tale wrapped in narrative songwriting and uneasy humor
CHARLOTTE, NC (February 26, 2026) – North Carolina–based singer-songwriter Ali Forrest returns with “2035,” a tense, thought-provoking new single that wrestles with artificial intelligence’s creeping influence on relationships, identity, and the future of human connection.
Written during a period of mounting cultural unease, “2035” unfolds through three distinct narrative threads, each imagining a world where AI reshapes everyday life. From digital companions replacing intimacy to algorithms mediating emotional experience, Forrest filters the human struggle through intimate storytelling that feels uncomfortably plausible.
“I was feeling a lot of doom when I wrote ‘2035,’” Forrest recalls. “My friends and I joked that our kids would grow up and date AI boys someday.” Produced by Cole Covington, the track pairs the twang of Forrest’s vocal delivery with ominous, scene-setting lyrics that imagine a not-so-distant, algorithm-driven future.
“2035” continues Forrest’s steady creative ascent. Since releasing her debut EP Raised Wrong in 2023, she has maintained a deliberate pace, following with 2024’s Body and her 2025 full-length Cagefighter. As her catalog has expanded, so has her creative circle. Forrest’s band, affectionately referred to as ‘the boys’ is a lineup of North Carolina musicians, including guitarist Ben Burrows (who also plays with Alt-Folk artist Ethan Regan), bassist Cole Covington (who produced Cigarettes @ Sunset), drummer Caleb Whitlock and guitarist Eric Maust. Together, they translate Forrest’s intimate songwriting into a dynamic, full-band live experience.
“2035” is available now at all digital service providers.
