Ellery Bonham Releases New Single “Poetic,” a Reflection on Ghosting and Emotional Clarity

An honest look at modern dating, boundaries, and choosing yourself

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 20, 2026) — Alt-R&B artist Ellery Bonham returns with her new single “Poetic,” her latest independent release that unpacks the quiet disappointment of being ghosted and the moment of clarity that follows when romanticized potential gives way to self-respect.

Written during a five-day songwriting camp in the hills of Pasadena, “Poetic” captures the emotional whiplash of modern dating. Investing in someone who disappears without explanation and realizing that no amount of empathy or imagination can replace real emotional availability.

“The title came naturally while discussing the aftermath with my friends/cowriters. I realized how ironic it was that the guy who ghosted me is exactly the type of guy I’m always drawn to,” says Bonham. “I liked the levity of calling a toxic magnetism ‘poetic.’ It allowed us to have some fun with the chorus.”

With executive production from Evan Chambers (Quavo, Justin Park, B0dies) and additional sampling work by Nobu Sounds (John Legend, Sabrina Claudio), “Poetic” continues Ellery’s evolution into a new independent chapter rooted in intention and emotional honesty.

Building on her indie label debut, Quarterlife Blur, “Poetic” further establishes Ellery’s voice as one attuned to the lived experiences of women navigating relationships, independence, and identity in their 20s and 30s. “Poetic” offers a soundtrack for anyone who has experienced the hardships of modern dating and seeks to hold onto their self-worth along the way.

“Poetic” is available now on all streaming platforms.
