stagediver Unveils New Single "Paris" Ahead of Debut LP, Tiny House, Big Backyard
NASHVILLE, TN – April 4, 2025 – stagediver, the new project from Kelsey Kopecky (formerly of Kopecky Family Band on ATO Records), has independently released its latest single, "Paris," available today on all platforms. This release marks the next chapter in Kopecky's journey back to music after years spent developing the album with acclaimed producer Mike Sapone (Brand New, Oso Oso, Cymbals Eat Guitars).
Following the unveiling of her first single, "David Sedaris," in early March, "Paris" dives even deeper into a return to rock for the tenured Nashville artist. “During the pandemic, when we could only hang out with our pod, we set up a drum kit and amps in my studio with a PA I bought off Facebook marketplace,” recalls Kopecky. “It felt so good to play music in a room together and work out parts to songs that had only existed in voice memos we texted back and forth.”
Demoing and recording tracks began in 2019, and continued on through the turbulence of the pandemic and the transformative experience of motherhood, ultimately wrapping production in 2023. The release of the album was further halted by Kopecky's frightening discovery of her newborn's cancer diagnosis. Fast forward to 2025, and Tiny House, Big Backyard is finally ready to see the light of day. Kopecky has emerged with a renewed feeling of appreciation for her music and an overall sense of staying grounded in life as she readies this album for a summer release.
Best known as a founding member of the acclaimed indie group Kopecky Family Band, Minnesota-native Kelsey Kopecky has long been a force in the indie rock world. With the band, she helped craft songs that resonated deeply with audiences, leading to placements on hit TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Parenthood, and The Vampire Diaries. Kopecky Family Band also toured extensively, gracing the stages of major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Bumbershoot. Their music earned widespread recognition, with press highlights from The New York Times, NPR Music, USA Today, ELLE Magazine, and a performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Their single Heartbeat reached the Top 25 on Triple A radio, cementing their status as a breakout indie act.
